Generalised Geometries, Constrained Critical Points and Ramond–Ramond Fields
We describe the geometry of type II string compactifications to 6– and 7–dimensional backgrounds with Ramond–Ramond–fields in terms of principal fibre bundle as generalised SU(3)– and G2– structures. We endow these structures with an integrability condition which can be characterised as a constrained critical point for the generalised Hitchin functional and provides a solution to the supersymme...
متن کاملCritical Behavior for 2D Uniform and Disordered Ferromagnets at Self-Dual Points
We consider certain two-dimensional systems with self-dual points including uniform and disordered q-state Potts models. For systems with continuous energy density (such as the disordered versions) it is established that the self-dual point exhibits critical behavior: Infinite susceptibility, vanishing magnetization and power law bounds for the decay of correlations.
متن کاملMandatory Critical Points of 2D Uncertain Scalar Fields
This paper introduces a novel, non-local characterization of critical points and their global relation in 2D uncertain scalar fields. The characterization is based on the analysis of the support of the probability density functions (PDF) of the input data. Given two scalar fields representing reliable estimations of the bounds of this support, our strategy identifies mandatory critical points: ...
متن کاملCorrections to Thomas-Fermi densities at turning points and beyond.
Uniform semiclassical approximations for the number and kinetic-energy densities are derived for many noninteracting fermions in one-dimensional potentials with two turning points. The resulting simple, closed-form expressions contain the leading corrections to Thomas-Fermi theory, involve neither sums nor derivatives, are spatially uniform approximations, and are exceedingly accurate.
متن کاملQuasi-polynomial Mixing of Critical 2d Random Cluster Models
We study the Glauber dynamics for the random cluster (FK) model on the torus (Z/nZ) with parameters (p, q), for q ∈ (1, 4] and p the critical point pc. The dynamics is believed to undergo a critical slowdown, with its continuous-time mixing time transitioning from O(logn) for p 6= pc to a power-law in n at p = pc. This was verified at p 6= pc by Blanca and Sinclair, whereas at the critical p = ...
